Planning a first birthday party is so much FUN! I won’t go big for every birthday of our littles… but I for sure will for a first birthday party.
I wanted a fun, colorful theme.. and a FIESTA always WINS.
No birthday party is complete without matching family outfits. My girl, Kim Lyninger, came through in a BIG way when the rainbow vinyl she ordered, delayed getting here. She ended up custom making our adorable vinyl tees… SHE WINS. They turned out adorable. Mama Cita was super excited about them!
We had a taco bar and margarita bar… I mean who doesn’t love tacos?!? I bought a pack of small disposable sombreros from Hobby Lobby and used them for orange and lime slices. I bought adorable donkey plates off of ETSY.
Amazon came through BIG TIME for table cloths. $11 each for cloth mexican blankets, and I used them as tablecloths. I also purchased a pack of six cloth napkins, and I used them for a fun pop with centerpieces!
I bought all the flowers in the floral clearance section at Kroger, and put the arrangements together the day before the party. ( fun tip: to preserve those flowers of yours, add a couple drops of purification by young living to the water!)
Another super fun idea that is economical and sooo easy…. I bought a roll of craft wrapping paper from Hobby Lobby, and i cut table runners from it. One roll made runners for 4 tables with a little left over. Extra fun part?!? There’s a grid on the back so you can cut a perfectly straight line. I would cut one long piece, and then cut it in half long ways to make two runners. SO MUCH FUN! I mean, kraft paper goes with pretty much every single theme that ever lived. I threw some markers on each table, so people could write notes or happy birthday messages to our little nugget.
The Cake Shop in Bowling Green is seriously amazing. They went above and beyond with customer service to do exactly what I wanted and SO MUCH MORE. The cake was even better than I had hoped, and the top layer came off to use as a smash cake! We also had cupcakes with cactus toppers… as well as one of my favorite deets… a cupcake topper with our guy’s face, wearing a sombrero. STOP. So cute. And so fun.
The Fiesta mantle decor all came from Etsy, and the big UNO balloons came from Party City.
Another one of my most favorite touches… were the cookies made by the one and only Laura Shonk. She is the creative genius behind Hay-Hay’s cookies, and they taste as delicious as they are adorable. There ain’t nothin’ she can’t do. Uno cookies to match the cake, a cactus I can’t talk about because OMG, and a birthday cake cookie is like double the fun. Loved them all so much!
No FIESTA birthday party is complete without a pinata… and of course, this one was shaped like an Avocado… because, why the heck wouldn’t it be?!? In typical aunt fashion, I stuffed it with all the things my siblings love… silly string, slime, and candy. YOU’re welcome, guys. You’re welcome.
One of my best friends showed up in full FIESTA gear, so I had to throw her picture in the mix too! LOLOL. I love you every day, Kim.
